This week radio goes where the fans are -- Brave New World was recorded live at Draft FCB in Chicago with a (slightly raucous) studio audience. As a special treat, she interviewed local indie music mogul Howard Greynolds, who manages The Swell Season, the duo that starred in the indie film Once and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. www.theswellseason.com. Listen in as Howard tells stories about backstage at the Academy Awards, other other up & coming talent he's working with, and the state of indie music. As a bonus, you'll get to hear new releases from Kings Of Leon, Okkervil River, and Neil Halstead, and a chat with Draft FCB music guru Stump Mahoney.

Tricia is in a happy mood about playing unhappy music. For some strange reason, nothing makes her cheerier than a dark and lovely new album like "You & Me" from The Walkmen, or "Future Chaos" from producer Paul Simenon's "Bomb The Bass" project. It would be an entire hour of melancholy except she can't resist playing some heartwarming antidotes by Psapp, Jem, Stereophonics, and Paul Simon. So dive in.

A sizzling first set starting with The Hold Steady and finishing with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is followed by a delicate set featuring a new release from Psapp, thoughtful heartbreak from Her Space Holiday, and political lyrics
from James. Just the kind of wide-ranging talent show you expect (and deserve) from Brave New World.

Why does a Belgian band call themselves Girls In Hawaii? Why does a Welsh band have a spanish name that means "The Peasants"? Will The Verve's new album make up for an 11 year absence? Ponder these questions and more while enjoying an hour of all the best new releases that made it past Tricia's savvy ears.

Psapp vs Astrud Gilberto, Minibar vs The Cure, The Who vs Marvin Gaye, Steve Wynn vs The History Of Baseball. Admit it, you're curious, right? Additionally Tricia's got some full out ROCK from Sloan, Supergrass, The Raconteurs, and Autolux, plus breaking new indies Jeremy Jay and Thao With The Get Down Stay Down.

And also, you know the drill, classics never-to-be-forgotten from Yo La Tengo, The Lemonheads, Syd Barrett, and Joy Division.

Helio Sequence captured Tricia's heart when she saw them perform at Sundance and she's slightly obsessed with the album ever since. She could go on and on about them for a solid hour, but luckily she won't. Instead, she'll play the album alongside other stellar new releases like Everest, The Kills, and Alt-Ctrl-Sleep. And round it out with Ray Charles, Mink DeVille, and The Turtles. What could be better?
Listen to show number 101
Tricia's debut show for Radio HUM will dispel that March cloudiness from your weather forecast, with a healthy dose of comfort music from decades past in the form of The The, George Harrison, and The Replacements, alongside new releases from Gnarls Barkley (Dangermous/Cee-Lo collaboration), Mike Doughty (formerly of Soul Coughing), The Mountain Goats (Tricia's Inland Empire faves), and Jim White (slighty psycho alt-country).
